The Center of Investigation and Advance Studies of the Polytechnic National Institute (CINVESTAV for its Spanish acronym) is a decentralized public interest organization dedicated to the dissemination, teaching and development of scientific research in Mexico.
At the CINVESTAV they conduct research in various scientific and technological areas that aim to improve the country’s standard of living and boost its development.
The Irapuato Unit includes the Unit for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering and the National Laboratory of Genomics for Biodiversity (LANGEBIO). The Department of Biotechnology and Biochemistry conducts research on large areas of modern biology, from the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to the exploitation of biological systems for agricultural and industrial interest.
